There are a lot of people that don’t think having their boiler serviced is very important, and these are the people that usually get hit with unexpected repair charges!

Boiler servicing is a simple process but can save a lot of hassle in the long run. I carry servicing on all ranges of Vaillant boilers,  and this week I came across 3 Ecotec boilers that hadn’t been serviced for a few years, luckily all the boilers are and have been working fine!

The main problem with this model of boiler is that there is a seal on the main heat exchanger that needs to be checked and replaced if needed, if this seal isn’t replaced when needed it can cause major problems! Once the seal on the boiler has gone, every time you turn your boiler on, the intense heat from the main burner starts to get out into the boiler, this can then cause all sorts of damage costing the you, the customer lots of £££!!

Another problem that I get called to is an F28 fault code on the boiler, this fault code indicates and ignition problem, can be down to a number of different things, but usually it comes down to the same thing, dirty ignition electrodes! Again this is something that should be checked and cleaned by any engineer servicing your boiler, unfortunately a lot of engineers don’t do this! And again it then cause a lot of problems in the long run!

If you are getting your boiler serviced there are a lot of companies out there that will offer you a service for £40, but the question you need to ask yourself is what am I getting for my £40? My answer, not a lot! Paying the extra on a service can save you money on the repair!
